About American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor course is designed for individuals who wish to become certified to teach essential lifesaving skills, including CPR and basic first aid. This blended learning course combines online content with an in-person session, offering flexibility and a comprehensive approach to learning.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of the online portion before attending the in-person session. Upon registration, the online component will be sent to you, which must be completed prior to the classroom activities.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to teach BLS courses, including how to respond to cardiac emergencies, perform CPR, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition, instructors will be trained on how to effectively deliver course material, demonstrate key skills, and evaluate student performance.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive two certifications:

  1. Basic Life Support Instructor certification

  2. Basic Life Support certification

Both certifications are valid for 2 years.
